# Creator sync

A LottieFiles Creator document edited here, live: your edits go back to Creator as you work.

## Open a live document

`creator-tui docs` lists your Creator documents. Open one by its id:

```sh
creator-tui open DOCUMENT_ID
```

The composition in focus comes over as a Lottie. Opening a file from the
[LottieFiles browser](https://terminal.lottiefiles.com/docs/lottiefiles.md) gives you a local working copy instead of this live link.

## What syncs

| Change | Result |
| --- | --- |
| Move existing keys in time | Syncs on tracks that match a Creator track. |
| Change existing keys' easing | Syncs on matching tracks. |
| Change property values | Changes the local preview; stays local. |
| Add or remove keys | That track cannot sync until its key count matches again. Other matching tracks keep syncing. Undo can restore the match. |
| Edit a track with a faint name in the score | Stays local: its property can't be matched to Creator's. |
| Add file-only features, such as behaviours or repeats | Refused in a Creator document. Save a file copy to use them locally. |

`w` asks to sync without waiting for the editing pause. It does not turn local value edits
into Creator edits. A precomp used twice appears once, at its first instance's timing.

Before reloading after a conflict, export a local file if you need to keep your edits.
Quitting asks again when edits would be lost.

## Edit and sync

Retiming and easing show at once; nothing waits on the network. A moment after your last edit,
the keys you moved and the eases you changed go to Creator.

If someone moved the same keys meanwhile, nothing of yours is written and the bottom line says
`conflict · F5 reloads`. While you're idle, changes made in Creator come in on their own,
unless you have edits not synced yet.

`creator-tui login` signs in to LottieFiles and then to Creator, in the same browser. Over SSH,
or on Linux with no display (a server, a container; WSL opens the Windows browser), no browser
opens and Creator's sign-in needs a computer with one: run `creator-tui login` there. Both are kept
in `~/.config/motion`.
