# Choose the editor’s colours

Choose a dark and a light interface theme, then decide which one the editor uses.

1. Press `⇧K`. The theme list opens in the palette (the command search).
2. Press `←` to reach the dark group. The selected dark theme appears on the editor.
3. Press `↑` or `↓` to try a theme. Its colours appear as you move.
4. Press `enter` to keep it. The palette closes.
5. Press `⇧K`, then `→` to reach the light group. You see the light themes.
6. Press `↑` or `↓` to try one, then `enter` to keep it.
7. Press `⇧K`, then `m` until the foot says **follows the terminal**. Your terminal’s
background decides whether the editor uses your dark or light choice.
8. Press `enter` to keep the choice. The editor keeps it for the next launch.
