# Export a dotLottie for a player

Package your animation and its media as a `.lottie` file for a dotLottie player.

1. Click **↓ export** beside the document's name in the rail (the Properties panel in After Effects or Figma). The **EXPORT** panel opens.
2. Click **dotLottie** under **Animation**. The panel measures both JSON and dotLottie sizes.
3. Click **Glyphs** under **Text** if that row appears. Used letters travel with the animation without whole font files.
4. Click **Local drive**. You see the filename and folder.
5. Click **Change output path…**. The full path becomes editable.
6. Type a path ending in `.lottie`, then press `↵`. The new destination appears.
7. Click **Export file**. The panel shows the written size and filename when it finishes.
8. Load the file in your destination dotLottie player. Read any export warning and check the animation, media, themes and interactions you use.

If someone needs to type new letters in another editor, choose **Glyphs + fonts** where the
font licence allows it. This adds the whole fonts. Saving your working `.lottie` with `w`
always keeps its fonts.
