# Invite a friend

Made something you like? Send it to a friend with a link of your own, and see how many came to
Creator Terminal through it.

## Share your link

Press `:` or `⌘P` and run **Share Creator Terminal**: your link is copied, ready to paste
beside the clip you made. The first time, it's made for your LottieFiles account (sign in once,
in your browser, if you aren't), and it's the same link from then on, on every computer you
sign in on.

From the command line:

```sh
creator-tui share      # your link, the line to post it with, and the last file you exported
creator-tui invites    # how far it reached
```

Settings (`F2`) → Accounts → **Invite a friend** shows it too, with how far it reached; `↵`
copies it.

After your fifth export, the status line says once where to find it.

## What your friend gets

Your link (`terminal.lottiefiles.com/r/…`) opens a page with the showreel and install commands
that carry your link's code:

```sh
curl -fsSL https://terminal.lottiefiles.com/r/K7M2QX9P/install.sh | sh
```

On Windows, in PowerShell:

```powershell
irm https://terminal.lottiefiles.com/r/K7M2QX9P/install.ps1 | iex
```

They install Creator Terminal as the usual install line does. On a computer that has never run
Creator Terminal, the installer keeps the code, and Creator Terminal says which invite brought it
in its usage stats, once they're on, within two weeks of installing. With usage stats off, or
installed with the usual line, it isn't counted.

## How far it reached

You see four counts, never who:

- **opened**: the link's page was opened;
- **installed**: Creator Terminal was installed with its commands and opened;
- **made something**: one of those installs exported something in its first two weeks;
- **came back**: it exported on a second day in those two weeks.

An install signed in to your own LottieFiles account isn't counted. Once a day, while the
editor is open, it asks again, and the status line says who came since you last looked.

Nothing you or your friend made is uploaded.
