# Not yet

Check the limits that affect editing, playback and delivery before choosing a workflow.

## Exporting and sharing

- Saving a LottieFiles working copy with `w` does not publish it. Upload from **↓ export**
or use `creator-tui push`. Version history contains delivery files, not automatic source
  backups. [Saving, exporting and publishing](https://terminal.lottiefiles.com/docs/concepts/saving-exporting-and-publishing.md)
  explains the difference.
- LottieFiles accepts **dotLottie** exports. Video, pictures, SVG and Frolic use
**Local drive**. Uploads referring to local media require that media to be embedded.
- Materials, Ink and Soft draw plain in Lottie players. Pictures and video draw those looks
with suitable graphics hardware. A slow GPU starts with the plain drawing.
- GIF has palette colours and on/off transparency. For smooth transparent edges, choose
WebM, MOV, WebP, APNG or PNG frames. Whether a destination app plays transparency depends
  on that app.
- Animated SVG and Frolic do not carry every feature. Their warnings name what is left out
  or changed; see [Export](https://terminal.lottiefiles.com/docs/export.md#animated-svg).
- The command line exports the whole animation; there is no loop-range flag. It skips formats
needing ffmpeg when ffmpeg is absent, so a successful exit alone does not prove each
  requested file was written.
- `chart`, `trace`, `paste`, `render`, `template`, `templates`, `style`, `agents`, `lottiefiles`,
`check` and `changes` are no longer CLI commands. Use the app for those tasks. `states`
only reads. See the current [command reference](https://terminal.lottiefiles.com/docs/cli.md).

## Editing and playback

- [Repeats](https://terminal.lottiefiles.com/docs/repeats.md) need a 2-D source. Save a file copy of a Creator document first. Fields use
transforms and Opacity. Convert or bake the original's transform expressions first; live
behaviours use their baked keys. A repeat has at most 1,000 copies and 16 fields. A build is
bounded to 32 MB of copies, 64 MB across a batch, and 500,000 property samples for animated
arrangements. A path has at most 4,096 points. Use a precomp source for a large drawing.
If a copy's shape structure was edited locally, later structural changes on the original can
be kept out of that edited part; detach and edit it independently when the structures diverge.
- [Behaviours](https://terminal.lottiefiles.com/docs/behaviours.md): there's no IK. Gradient stops and text
properties, stroke dash values and native effect values are not behaviour targets. Expressions
on those properties stay as expressions, even when their arithmetic is recognised.
Behaviours are kept in files; adding them to a Creator document is refused. Reorder a stack
by removing and adding its kinds. Bake before pasting keys onto a driven layer or ungrouping
  a precomp containing driven layers.
Ease audition on these rows is unavailable; apply an ease and undo to compare its result.
Follow stays within one composition. Grouping a source separately from its follower is
refused. Flattening, outlining, converting a primitive or replacing geometry that a link
reads is refused: pick another source or bake its followers first. Shape values made by a
rig or boolean must be flattened before they can carry behaviours.
Splitting or joining a path that a behaviour reads or drives is refused; other paths in the
same drawing can be edited and added. A paste into another composition or document must
include its behaviour sources. Path Follow delay is constant; it cannot be keyed.
Nested controls in custom pseudo effects remain read-only; the five standalone After Effects
  Expression Controls are editable.
Aim and Near need 2-D source and parent layers. Live links stay baked for paths, delay,
effect-control sources, keyed additive bases, multiple enabled behaviours on one property,
and any driven source or parent, including one with its own live expression. Near on Position
stays baked. Live source reads currently use joined layer transforms; shape properties and
separated Position stay baked. Expression conversion recognises a bounded grammar, not
arbitrary JavaScript; cross-composition references and non-zero Loop key counts stay as
  expressions.
Near does not take separated Position X/Y. Join Position first. Spatial behaviours refuse
skewed layers and parents; remove their skew before adding Aim or Near.

- Templates: there's no stars-over-time chart (the growth chart draws a package's downloads instead). The download race needs two
packages or more (with fewer it shows made-up ones, said so under its tile). PyPI's downloads go
back six months and crates.io's twelve weeks. A picture GitHub sends as JPEG is made a PNG with
macOS's own code (elsewhere it's left out, and an initial drawn instead).

- Styles: a film's checks are measured on its keys. A changelog's landings are evenly spaced (its `landings` field times
them to music of your own). A role that moves on a spring takes a measured easing instead.
Words drafted from a repo's releases are a start: names come from their headlines (an API's
name where one leads), and ✦ write its words has the copilot write them properly with you.

- A gradient token's stops are typed only when they hold still (keyed ones change on the
gradient's swatch); an image token takes a picture pasted or dropped, the theme's when one is
shown (a theme's picture the players fetch or find in the `.lottie`, not in its rule, isn't
drawn here); a theme's keys are shown for colours, numbers, pairs and positions (a gradient's
or a text's are kept as the file has them). A theme's text is drawn in the font, size,
colours and alignment its rule gives; the rail types only its words (the copilot sets the
rest), and its capitals (`textCaps`) are drawn as a file has them, not set here. A theme's
typed words follow its rule's capitals, else the text's, as they were when typed: turning the
text's capitals on or off afterwards needs them typed again. Today's
dotLottie players draw a theme's text in the text's own font, not the one its rule names (the
file carries that font and its letters for when they do). Charts draw up to 60 rows and 12
columns; a chart's own layers are made again when its data changes (edits made inside it
  go).

- Trying a state machine, a link (`open`) is said in WHAT HAPPENED, not opened. State machines
are made in files (not Creator documents); while one plays another of a `.lottie`'s
animations, the score still shows the one open.
- Booleans, the shape builder, Flatten and Outline stroke work on layers that hold still and
show over the same time; keyed ones, layers with masks or effects, and shapes with trim paths,
round corners or repeaters are refused and said so (what they make animates as any layer
does). A shape combines by what it fills, or a stroked one by what its stroke goes round (the
result stroked again); a boolean inside a boolean combines as what it draws.
- Value edits stay local in Creator documents (timing and easing sync); parenting, mattes, trim
paths, dashes, fills, strokes and masks are added in files (and gradients edited there), and so
are repeats; layers are hidden and locked there, and their in and out points
  trimmed and moved.
- A locked layer's keys still move and ease on the score (Creator keeps them still too).
- Pasting from Figma: inner shadows and background blurs are left out, diamond gradients drawn
radial, a text's mixed styles drawn in its own style, images need Figma's
servers (an image it can't fetch is drawn grey). After Effects' own copy of layers can't be
read; pasting into a Creator document isn't possible (files only).
- Shapes made from their values and booleans show their first fill and stroke only, and keep
them solid or as they are. A stop dragged stays between its neighbours.
- A conic gradient on a layer drawn with Ink, Soft or a Material is drawn radial (as players
draw it), and Frolic exports it radial.
- The ease box shapes every dimension of a move alike (the graph editor shapes a point's x and
y each alone). A colour's channels, a move along a curved motion path, and a Creator
document's moves (Creator keeps one ease a key) keep one ease for all their dimensions; a
file that eases a colour's channels apart plays them by the first one's.
- Creator documents open on their focused composition; precomps show inside it
(a precomp used twice is listed once, at its first instance's timing).
- Time-remapped precomps map linearly; effects other than a blur, a shadow and a glow (fill,
tint, tritone…) are read-only rows on the score, and a layer gets one of each. Text on a
path is one left-aligned line, upright, and only Animate text that fades (*fade*, *typewriter*)
animates it: ThorVG draws letters that other animators move, scale or turn off the path.
