# Draw your first shapes

## In this lesson

### A rectangle (0:08)

Here's a blank artboard. Let's add a rectangle. Press Shift R. Move onto the stage, then drag out a box. Let go to finish it.

### Round the corners (0:20)

Let's soften those corners. See the dots inside them? Drag one towards the centre, and all four corners become rounder. The rectangle keeps its size.

### An ellipse (0:31)

Let's add an ellipse beside it. Press Shift O. Back on the stage, drag another box beside the rectangle. The ellipse fits inside it.

### A star (0:42)

For our third shape, let's add a star. Press Shift S. Back on the stage, drag out another box. It starts with five points, and handles inside.

### More points (0:54)

Let's give our star seven points. Find the small square handle inside it. Drag it round towards the top. There we are.

### Move a shape (1:03)

To move a shape, click it first. Then drag its body, away from the centre and its anchor. Our rectangle moves down, with its rounded corners intact.
