## In this lesson

### One opening petal (0:09)

Let's see the movement we'll copy. This document has one animated petal. Press zero, then space. Watch it open. Press space again to pause. Every particle will keep that movement.

### Choose your artwork (0:24)

First, choose the artwork. Click the petal to select it. Make particles uses the selected layer, so this choice matters.

### Make particles (0:34)

Let's turn this petal into a stream. Open the palette with colon. Type Make particles, then press Enter. Back on the stage, petals replace our single shape. The emitter starts where our petal was.

### Your particle (0:49)

In the rail, the Particle row now names our petal. Its artwork lives in a composition of its own. Each new copy plays that animation from birth.

### Smaller copies (0:59)

For smaller copies, click more. Under Scale, double-click the minimum and type fifty, then Enter. Double-click the maximum and type seventy, then Enter. Each copy takes a size between those percentages of our artwork.

### Every copy opens (1:15)

Let's watch each petal open in its own time. Press zero, then space. Let it run, then pause. The narrow petals are younger; the wider ones have opened. They keep the coral colour we drew.
